Skyjack—A Fernet-Branca Cocktail
In honor of my friend, Sky Jack Morgan—poet, scholar, world traveler, and unabashed lover of Fernet-Branca—I have created this new cocktail called "Skyjack". Enjoy! (And be sure to check out Jack's Guest Blog entry of July 25, 2016: "Why I Love Fernet-Branca & Hate Anyone Who Doesn't") SKYJACK 1 part Fernet-Branca 1 part Green Chartreuse 1 part Sanpellegrino Limonata
Shake first two ingredients over ice to get nice and cold. Then stir in the Limonata. Pour into a coupe gla

Why I Love Fernet-Branca & Hate Anyone Who Doesn't: A Guest Blog By Sky Jack Morgan
As a rule, Kelly Rippa does not drink Fernet-Branca. Secretly she loves it, but when it comes to amaros her handlers would much rather you spy her sipping crimson Campari on the beach with an aureole of gold. It plays better in Wyoming. But for us mere mortals, Fernet is a kind and gentle reminder of our imminent ends, a whisper in the dark imploring us to live all moments of our lives to the fullest because we are not Kelly Rippa, and we will never start the day brushing pup

Retro Cocktail for July: The Fourth Regiment
Not much is known about this month's Retro Cocktail. Legend holds that it dates back to 1889. It gets its unique, disarming flavor from the three kinds of bitters: Peychaud's, orange, and celery. When I originally wrote down the recipe, my dyslexia kicked in and I put Extra Dry Vermouth instead of Sweet. And this actually isn't bad. I used Dolin Vermouth de Chambéry and it has an interesting flavor, but of course it's not "The Fourth Regiment". Perhaps "The Fifth"? The Sweet
