When Schopenhauer Meets Alcohol...

Perhaps I've been reading too much Schopenhauer...

A drink that's so smooth, you'll forget your imminent demise, but with a nice kick to remind you of your plight, after a long finish from the Hopped Grapefruit bitters and the cocktail vinegar...


2 parts Knob Creek Rye Whiskey ½ part Pama Pomegranate liqueur ½ part Luxardo Maraschino liqueur splash of Benedictine ¼ part Shrub District Lime Cocktail Vinegar dash of Bittermens Hopped Grapefruit bitters splash of Pastis de Marseille Pour the splash of Pastis de Marseille into a chilled coupe glass and swirl around, coating the glass and the rim. Stir all other ingredients in an iced shaker, then pour into the coupe glass. Garnish with existential angst and a wedge of a fresh Granny Smith apple, and behold its transitory beauty.
