the e.e. cummings: a poetic cocktail
Outside of my best pal, Jack Morgan, e.e. cummings is my favorite poet. And he was also a novelist, playwright, and painter (like someone else I know). Today's drink I created in his honor...
i will wade out till my thighs are steeped in burning flowers I will take the sun in my mouth and leap into the ripe air Alive with closed eyes to dash against darkness in the sleeping curves of my body Shall enter fingers of smooth mastery with chasteness of sea-girls Will i complete the mystery of my flesh I will rise After a thousand years lipping flowers And set my teeth in the silver of the moon
the e.e. cummings 2 parts Aperol 1 part Beefeater London Dry Gin 1 part Fever-Tree Ginger Beer ½ part fresh-squeezed Lime juice
Shake everything but the Ginger Beer over ice, then stir in the Ginger Beer. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with a lime twist and disarming verse.
“To be nobody but yourself in a world which is doing its best day and night to make you like everybody else means to fight the hardest battle which any human being can fight and never stop fighting.” ― e.e. cummings
